Veterinary Care

Veterinary oversight from before conception to forever home.

Every breeding adult and every kitten in our cattery is under the continuous care of a licensed veterinarian. Here is the exact protocol we follow.

Every breeding adult and every kitten in our home is under the continuous care of a licensed feline-friendly veterinarian. Wellness exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and health certificates are all performed at our partner clinic — never at home by us.

We're happy to share our veterinarian's name, clinic name, address, and phone number with serious adopters so you can independently verify our standing as a client before placing a deposit. Email us at hello@mapleandpaw.example and we'll send the full clinic details right over.

Microchipping

Every kitten is microchipped by our veterinarian before going home, typically at the 12-week wellness exam. We register the chip in our name first to confirm it’s functional, then transfer ownership to you at pickup so the chip points directly to your contact information. Microchips are lifetime ID — they don’t require batteries, can’t fall off, and can be scanned by any vet or shelter.

Genetic testing

We DNA test every breeding cat through a panel that screens for known inherited feline conditions including HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) genetic markers, PKD (polycystic kidney disease), and PK Deficiency. Pairings are made to ensure no at-risk genetic combinations are produced. Test reports are available to adopters on request.

Emergency & preventive care

We have a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital within fifteen minutes of our home, and our cattery maintains a stocked first-aid kit, a kitten-safe scale, and incubator support for high-risk litters. Preventive care includes annual wellness bloodwork on every breeding adult, routine fecal screening, and ongoing parasite prevention.
